Practical M&E Tool
The AFRIpads Data Collection Toolkit (2020) is a practical M&E tool designed for NGO practitioners working in the development or the humanitarian context, that want to better understand the menstrual hygiene practices, challenges, and needs of their target group.
The AFRIpads Data Collection Toolkit (2020) contains five tools that work in tandem to provide the most effective, evidence based results: (1) 10-Step-Guide on how to plan and execute your MHH data collection, (2) baseline survey, (3) endline survey, (4) sample Focus Group Discussion Guide, (5) sample consent form. We also added several helpful tools.

Baseline Survey
The objective of the Baseline survey is to develop a strong understanding of the current context, and is often used as a needs assessment.
Endline Survey
The Endline survey is a post-distribution evaluation tool, designed to be used after a menstrual product distribution and/or Menstrual Health and Hygiene education session.
Sample focus group discussion guide
Includes a number of pre-prepared questions to guide the data collector through a group discussion) for adult women and girls, as well as a FGD log form.
Sample consent forms
We provide you with a sample consent and assent form that is easily customizable and can be used for data collection with adults or minors.
Menstrual practice needs sub-scale scoring sheet
The MPNS Sub-scale Scoring Sheet will help you to calculate the MPNS-36 Sub-scores and is an adapted version from the original that can be found here.
Visual aids
Visual Aids support respondents in answering questions by comparing to a visual scale. AFRIpads’ Visual Aids are adapted from the MPNS visual response tool which can be found here.
