Location: Kampala (with additional travel up-country as needed)
Terms: Full-Time (6 days per week) – 6 Months
Salary: 500.000 UGX per month (Gross) + bonuses based on targets.

About the role:
The So Sure Merchandiser will provide sales, marketing, and administrative support to the So Sure department. They will promote and grow the So Sure Brand across Uganda, mainly focused on the central district and Kampala. The goal for this role is the implementation of operational activities that are in line with the company’s strategy. The Merchandiser shall report directly to the Head of So Sure.

AFRIpads is a social enterprise that provides women and girls with a sustainable solution for managing their periods with comfort and dignity. An exciting opportunity has become available at AFRIpads within our So Sure department. We are looking for an enthusiastic Merchandiser to join our So Sure Team.
So Sure is our commercial brand, and our products are sold in Supermarkets, Pharmacies, Drug shops and dukas across Uganda. We produce and sell Reusable Sanitary pads that are made from high-tech man-made fibres which provide advanced protection and comfort. Our smart and washable design means they can be used all year long!
Responsibilities:
- Visit retail stores daily to ensure proper stock levels and brand visibility.
- Check and replenish stock on shelves, ensuring products are always available to customers.
- Report low stock or stock-outs to the sales team for timely replenishment.
- Collaborate with the sales team to ensure sales goals and visual merchandising standards are aligned.
- Establish strong relationships with store managers and staff to support in-store collaboration.
- Gather competitor insights (pricing, promotions, shelf space) and report to management.
- Record merchandising activities daily using mobile apps, checklists, or photo uploads.
- Assist with in-store promotions or activations, such as product sampling or awareness drives.
- Train store staff and consumers on basic product knowledge, usage, and selling points when needed.
- Provide feedback from customers or store staff regarding product performance or suggestions.
- Administrative tasks such as writing reports, weekly work planning, and data entry.
- Working closely with our sales team and management to identify issues and improve on operations.
- Join and support the Ugandan team at events on a need basis.
- Flexible to take up duties as they come up.
Key Requirements:
- At least 3 years of proven experience in merchandising in the Central district and Kampala. (preferably in women’s care and/or pharmaceutical products)
Strong understanding of retail environments and how merchandising impacts sales. - Basic understanding of feminine hygiene products or willingness to learn quickly.
- Experience working in a business setting (office) and in the field (retail shops).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel daily to multiple store locations within assigned territory.
- Excellent physical stamina – ability to stand, move, lift, and arrange products for long hours.
- Strong command of English and Luganda. (Additional Ugandan languages preferred)
- Culturally responsive and respectful.
- Self-motivated and strong desire to take on new challenges as they occur.
Additional Requirements:
- In possession of a smartphone.
- Able and willing to travel regularly. Needs to be highly flexible and adaptable to travel within short notice. Travel is required within Kampala, surrounding districts, and sometimes in other regions in Uganda.
- Able to move and transport themself by public transport such as motorcycle taxis.
- Flexibility in work schedule, including weekends or early hours during promotions.
Skill sets:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with store staff and customers.
- Independent and capable of proactive workplan management, with minimal support.
- Thoughtful, resourceful, and eager to learn.
