September 2020: French Red Cross
This month, we are reflecting on the development of a partnership that took AFRIpads out of Africa and into Asia.
In January 2020, we were approached by the Iraq Humanitarian Fund, the Iraqi Red Crescent Society and the French Red Cross to support over 500 returnees with AFRIpads Menstrual Kits in Sinjar District, Iraq.
Despite some complications in light of COVID-19, our reusable pads were successfully delivered and distributed in April 2020. Before this distribution took place, 22% of the 500 women surveyed reported that they felt unable to leave the house during menstruation. After receiving AFRIpads, we saw an incredible increase of 79%. It was a privilege to work alongside these organizations and support women who are currently residing in such a challenging context.
