Love Stories and Yoni team up to support women in Uganda with the AFRIpads Foundation
In support of Menstrual May and Menstrual Hygiene Day coming up on May 28th, Love Stories Intimates, a leading premium lingerie brand, has joined forces with Yoni, the innovative fem care brand, to create period-proof underwear raising funds to support the AFRIpads Foundation and give back to communities in need.
“From the beginning, Love Stories has been rooted in the idea of challenging societal norms for women. Together with Yoni, we can harness our power as female-led brands and use our voices to normalise periods. By raising funds with our period-proof underwear, we support communities in developing countries, increase awareness, fight period poverty and empower women to feel their best — no matter the time of the month.”Marloes Hoedeman, Founder of Love Stories.
Yoni is selling their limited edition period proof underwear with Love Stories:
“Yoni is committed to empowering women to make informed choices about their bodies and their health,” said Mariah Mansvelt Beck, co-founder of Yoni. “We are proud to collaborate with Love Stories Intimates to create a product that aligns with our values and provides women with a sustainable, healthy, and effective alternative to traditional period products.”
And for every pair of period proof underwear sold, Love Stories will donate 3 AFRIpads menstrual kits containing 4 washable sanitary pads each. Which means one pair of underwear will provide for the menstrual needs of 3 women in Uganda for an entire year.
These kits will be delivered and distributed to women in Uganda by our partner Resilient Women Uganda.
Poverty is a big driver of domestic violence and sexual gender-based violence since it limits girls and women from having equal access to resources and services, especially employment, education and sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) information. In response to this situation, the Resilient Women’s Organization was born in 2016. Resilient Women’s Organization (RWO) in Uganda is a registered grass-root Non-Profit Organization and was started to socially and economically empower adolescent girls and young women. The organisation has 3 main goals: ending child marriage, supporting young women and teenagers through pregnancies, and eradicating gender based violence.
AFRIpads Foundation also has the option for donating directly to further provide crucial menstrual health products to the women of Uganda. For the month of May, individuals can show support by giving €15,00 ($16.50) which will give an additional set of three 4-packs of AFRIpads reusable pads to RWO. The distribution will take place in June or July of this year.
