On the 15 May, Hon. Amongin, a female Member of Parliament in Uganda and an MHH Champion, acknowledged an important component to the ‘Periods Don’t Stop for Pandemics’ initiative – that many women and girls residing in Quarantine centres did not have access to menstrual products because they were not being recognized as an essential item.
We were very touched by this emotional appeal so we reached out directly to Hon. Amongin and organized for an official (and socially distanced) donation to take place at the AFRIpads office on 28 May, MH Day.
The Hon. Amongin was in attendance and collected 400 Menstrual Kits to be delivered to women in isolation centers across Eastern Uganda.
Hon Amongin, said: “All women deserve to have a dignified menstrual solution so we must not ignore the women’s needs who are currently residing in quarantine centres across the country. This AFRIpads donation is timely and much needed. I applaud AFRIpads for caring that all women despite their setting should menstruate in safety and dignity.”
