AFRIpads has reached more than 1.5 million girls and women worldwide with its AFRIpads Menstrual Kits. These products were distributed by NGOs and international relief agencies around the world, as well as by direct consumer purchases in Uganda.

“Before I got AFRIpads I was using pieces of old clothes during my menstruation. These were making me feel very uncomfortable, as they used to leak. So everybody could see I was in my period, making me feel very small. Now with AFRIpads I feel so comfortable. And as I know that they won’t leak, AFRIpads is making me feel safe. And the best thing is that they can be used for 12+ months, so they also help in saving money.”
-NABIRYE MWASITI, 22 YEARS OLD – AFRIPADS CUSTOMER
“Save the Children is giving AFRIpads out to girls in order to encourage them to stay in school as well as promote sanitary hygiene. The AFRIpads Menstrual Kits readily address the needs of the refugee girls as they are washable and thus re-usable. The girls can use the AFRIpads packing bag to keep their sanitary towels from the prying boys and continue to attend school.
I would recommend AFRIpads to other organizations because using them is more sustainable compared to the disposable sanitary pads. With AFRIpads, girls are encouraged to go to school without worrying about being embarrassed during their menstruation periods. And we never experienced any problems accessing the pads, as AFRIpads always delivers on time.”

“I first worked as an unqualified primary teacher. Due to the poor salary I left teaching and I went back home to help my parents with digging and other chores around the house. In 2009 I found out about AFRIpads through a friend who used to pass by my home. She was already working with AFRIpads and told me about it. The best thing about AFRIpads is that there is strong teamwork among the employers and employees. And they also pay me the best salary. I was so proud when we celebrated that we sold 500,000 kits sold. I never thought we would achieve that in only 5 years. My future plan is to buy a plot of land and build my own home.”

-JUDITH NASSAKA – AFRIPADS PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

“I started working with AFRIpads in April 2012, so I made 3 years in April 2015!

I have been enjoying my work since then. I love my job and I love working with women and young school girls in communities who have always had trouble with what to use when they are in their menstrual periods. I like the product because it is a sustainable solution to these challenges. Also it is very cost effective and affordable therefore making it available to these girls and women have changed their lives and I am happy I have been part of the change!”
